One of the greatest joys I find in photography is capturing those real, unposed moments; the ones that are raw, genuine, and full of emotion. These are the moments where people aren’t trying to look perfect or worrying about how they’re being perceived; they’re just being. Whether it’s a shared laugh between family members, a stolen glance between a couple, or the unbridled joy of a child at play, those candid shots tell a story that goes beyond the frame.

When I’m behind the camera, I’m constantly on the lookout for these natural, fleeting moments. It’s in the way a person’s face lights up when they think no one is watching or how their body relaxes when they’re not posing. These are the moments that show their true essence, and capturing that is what I live for as a photographer.

There’s something magical about candid photography; it’s unpredictable and spontaneous. Unlike posed shots where everyone is aware of the camera, candid photos offer a window into who people really are when they’re comfortable and just enjoying the moment. I’ve found that these kinds of images often become my clients' favorites. Why? Because they remind them of how they felt, not just how they looked.

Think about it: a perfectly posed shot may look stunning, but it rarely captures the warmth of a real laugh or the sparkle in someone’s eye when they’re fully immersed in a moment. When people see these candid photos, they often say, “I didn’t even know you were taking pictures!” That’s when I know I’ve done my job well; when I’ve been able to capture someone’s authentic self without them even realizing it.

To me, photography isn’t just about creating beautiful images; it’s about preserving memories. And the most memorable moments in life are rarely the ones we plan for. They happen in the spaces between; the quiet, the chaos, the laughter, the tears. As a photographer, I feel honored to be able to freeze those moments in time, giving my clients something real to hold onto, something they can look back on and feel all over again.

Why I Love Being a Photographer 2024

Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always the one with a camera in hand, capturing every family event, trip, or simple moment that felt meaningful. My father sparked this passion in me. Together, we would explore the art of photography, bonding over the joy of freezing time in a single frame. Even when I pursued a career in R&B music, photography never left my heart—it was my way of holding on to the beauty of everyday life.

What inspires me most is the ability to tell someone’s story through my lens. Every person has their own unique journey, and I see it as my mission to bring that to life in a photo. It’s not just about taking pictures—it’s about capturing the essence of who someone is, preserving their memories, and giving them something they can hold onto forever.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of being a photographer is witnessing the reactions from my clients. There’s no greater joy than seeing someone’s face light up when they see themselves in a new, empowered way through my photos. I strive to help people feel beautiful, confident, and proud of who they are. Knowing that I’ve helped someone see themselves in a different light is the ultimate reward.

I also love the creative freedom photography gives me. Whether I’m working with natural light, playing with backdrops, or exploring new locations, every session feels like a fresh opportunity to create something beautiful and meaningful. Photography allows me to continuously evolve and challenge myself, and that’s a journey I’m passionate about.

At its core, photography is about connection—forging bonds with the people in front of my camera and telling their stories in the most authentic way possible. It’s that human connection, combined with the artistry, that keeps me in love with this craft. Why I love being a photographer

After having this website for quite a few years, this is my first blog post...

I was inspired to write this blog because of the amazing experience I had on a photo shoot yesterday. I photographed a beautifully intriguing woman. As the shoot progressed, more and more layers of my client unraveled. She spoke of her passion for her women's group and how she wanted to build unity in women with God as the main influence.

She held her head high throughout the shoot; smiling and giving off strength in her eyes. It was obvious that she was a very gentle, yet determined lady. She danced freely and allowed herself to enjoy the moment; It was absolutely beautiful.

At the end of the shoot, we went more in depth of her ventures and what she would accomplish 'God-willing'. She started weeping, expressing how wonderful the photo shoot experience was and how it was an emotional and mental boost for her. She was so overwhelmed with emotion and thanked me several times.

Whenever I experience my clients become overwhelmed by a photo session, I too become touched. Photography is more than a business; more than income. It is a tool that motivates and enhances self-confidence and builds strength and ultimately why I love being a photographer.
